iLiBRi’s Founder and CEO, Sajad Sepehri, recently participated in the inaugural UNESCO Digital Learning Week, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, from September 4th to 7th, 2023. This pivotal event brought together a diverse group of educators, policy-makers, and technology innovators from around the globe to discuss the future of digital learning.
The week focused on the potential of public digital learning platforms and Generative AI (GenAI) to enrich humanistic education. Key outcomes from the discussions included:
- Global Guidance for Generative AI: A new guideline document has been released to help countries implement GenAI responsibly in educational settings.
- Ed-Tech Tragedy?: The unveiling of a publication that cautions against over-reliance on technology in education.
- AI Competency Frameworks: The presentation of draft frameworks intended to define AI competencies for teachers and students, set to be finalized in early 2024.
During the event, we noted a significant emphasis on policy and regulatory frameworks for AI and GenAI, though practical solutions were less prominent. This observation highlights the importance of iLiBRi’s commitment to aligning with global educational goals and actively contributing practical, innovative solutions.
The discussions at UNESCO’s Digital Learning Week offered valuable insights into the global discourse on integrating GenAI into education, reinforcing iLiBRi’s role at the forefront of this transformative journey. Our participation in such forums is crucial as we continue to align our initiatives with international standards and lead the charge toward a digitally empowered educational future.
