As the co-founder and CEO of iLiBRi, I am honored to share a significant milestone in our journey—the official translation of UNESCO’s crucial document, “Guidance for Generative AI in Education and Research,” into Persian has been finished and delivered and will soon be published. This endeavor not only underscores our commitment to advancing educational accessibility but also places us at the forefront of global initiatives that are interested in shaping education’s future.

The journey began at the “Digital Learning Week” in 2023 at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris. It was an opportunity to engage with stakeholders, glean insights into the latest developments, and contribute to AI discussions in education. The aforementioned guidelines unveiling reaffirmed AI’s pivotal role in reshaping learning landscapes worldwide.

Following the document’s release, UNESCO sought candidates for its localization, and I am proud that I was selected for this task. Our dedication to staying abreast of UNESCO’s directives and EU policies regarding AI in education positions us as critical contributors to this transformative discourse.

Central to our approach is the conviction that successfully integrating AI into education requires a radical rethinking of pedagogical frameworks. We understand the imperative of reconceptualizing established theories to harness AI’s potential while critically assessing entrenched practices.

Drawing inspiration from Paulo Freire’s “Pedagogy of the Oppressed,” we emphasize the need for an inclusive and empowering educational model. By centering human experience and critical thinking, we aim to foster environments where AI augments rather than replaces pedagogical interactions.

Furthermore, we advocate for an explicit digital literacy and competency framework, mindful of the evolving relationship between individuals and knowledge in the age of Generative AI. Our solution prioritizes compliance with regulations and the ethical and equitable deployment of AI pedagogy.

Our journey aligns with UNESCO’s vision of harnessing AI to enhance educational outcomes while upholding human dignity and agency. By embracing innovation while honoring foundational principles, we pave the way for a future where technology enriches, rather than diminishes, the educational experience.
